HOW TO WASH YOUR HAIR

Hair washing is something we all do at least a few times a week. Everyone knows the ritual of wetting, shampooing, rinse and blotting dry with a towel, though. Yet more responsibility comes with washing and drying hair than you might think. It is important to keep up the health of your hair and that happens during the daily care you give your hair still. Below you will find some tips and advice. We think you already know most of this advice, but we see it as a small checklist, a list that gives you good hair care at a glance.

Choose the right shampoo for your hair needs.

Do not use an anti-dandruff shampoo at your friend’s house because that is the only shampoo that you can find in the shower. Always take your own shampoo when you’re on a journey. Let’s recognize hotel shampoos for what they are―a “one size fits all” product that usually doesn’t.

Don’t wash your hair too much.

Shampoo is not as kind to your hair as you might think (see below). Washing two or three times a week is sufficient. Are you accustomed to washing daily because it gives your hair such a nice, fresh feeling her every day? Then try replacing it with just rinsing. Several washes make your hair wet, but “torture” it every day with shampoo.

Shampoo you can compare with soap.

 It is intended that shampoo makes your hair clean. If you know this, you can imagine that shampoo―no matter how good the quality is―is still a little “aggressive.” Otherwise, your hair is, after all, never clean. Never use too much shampoo (you’re better off using more balm than shampoo). If you want to do it by the book, do not apply your shampoo to your hair; dilute it first in a cup of water. This prevents your hair from coming into direct contact with a concentrated shampoo.

Divide the diluted shampoo well over your hair

 Do not forget to massage the scalp. This will remove dead skin cells and stimulate blood circulation so that the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the hair follicles is improved. A healthy scalp is the foundation for healthy hair. If the scalp is dry, use a special shampoo. Harsh shampoos will not help at all!

Rinse your hair thoroughly (you can wash your hair best in the shower).

There should be no shampoo residue left in your hair when you’re done. This can irritate the scalp. Use lukewarm water to rinse.

Always use a balm that nourishes the hair and/or hydrates.

Most balms must work for a few minutes. If you feel that your hair is very dry and needs an extra mask, you can use the balm longer (a few hours, or overnight if necessary). Again, it is important that you choose a balm that is suitable for your hair type.

Rinse the balsam well so that no residue is left in your hair.

Use lukewarm water but finish up with cold water so that the cuticles close again (this is the same principle as using lotion after cleansing your skin―lotion closes the pores).

Towel-dry your hair:

But do it carefully because wet hair is more fragile than dry hair. So do not pull a comb or brush forcefully through wet hair.

It’s best for your hair to air dry.

This may not be possible when it’s cold, or if you have to get to work. Really straight hair is easy to air dry because it’s always nice down. For very curly hair, knead in the best product you can find and just let it dry. Simple.

If you’re late for work you may have to use a dryer.

Before using a blow dryer always be sure to use a protective product first. It will protect hair from the heat of the dryer. If you don’t have enough time to let it air dry, use the blow dryer until your hair it’s just damp, and then let it air dry until it’s “done.” You’ll save your hair from a lot more exposure to hot (and harmful) air.

Don’t forget to finish the blow-dry with a colder temperature

so the hair cuticles have the opportunity to close again.

Finally, you can add some shine spray on your hair

to give your hair an extra healthy, shiny look.
