Hair trends 2014: BOYISH LOOKS FOR ALL HAIR LENGTHS

The “Boyfriend’s Closet” hair trend: Boyish Looking Hairs

Next season will be male-inspired hairstyles―except coupes. It’s a trend that I find very much like other hair trends. I’ve also named this trend, Boyfriend’s Closet – Floor Kleyne

Hairstyles with a boyish look are in vogue. Left: a short boyish haircut, right: long hair with a boyish hair style (using a lot of gel)

Hairstylist Floor Kleyne Salon B guides us through the main hairstyle trends for spring and summer 2014. It promises to be an inspiring season. Last week, she told us about the new Floor bob that looks like you’ve really had your hair cut (read: not a bob but a chop. The Completely Crafty hair trend). This week, she tells us about her Boyfriend’s Closet trend―boyish haircuts for short, medium or long hair! We are going to see plenty of new styles during the upcoming season.

Boyfriend’s Closet

Floor Kleyne: This season we go male-inspired, except for the most feminine of styles. It’s a trend that I find very much like other hair trends. I’ve also named this trend, Boyfriend’s Closet .

(Really) Short Hairstyles

With this trend we see short, cropped hairstyles. It is striking how many models have suddenly gone to very short hairstyles. Lately Dutch top model Saskia de Brauw has been a very big inspiration. The new cut looks fantastic, but I would imagine that someone who is less statuesque would look for a slightly longer length. What I want to say is that you really have to take the short styles into consideration. They are back!

Incidentally, don’t forget that you can get a short hairdo without a scissors. You can achieve the same effect with sleek, graphic up-dos. One example is the style I have done for the Cedric Charlier fashion show in Paris. For this look, go for very graphic, clear lines and very clean hairdo without too much volume. It should all be very small and work with a lot of gel so it looks very boyish.
