How to apply foundation for a peach-like skin

Professional tips for Peach-like Skin

foundation for a peach-like skin

We all dream of having peach-like skin. Soft, glowing skin without blemishes and pimples. Very few people are blessed with such skin by nature. Fortunately, the cosmetics industry has come to our rescue. With the right products and techniques, we can correct imperfections and significantly improve our skin.
Trendy Style spoke to Genus Ng, MAC trainer, on the preparation of the skin. Genus reveals step by step instructions towards achieving perfect skin in this article!

Step 1: Know your skin

First, it is important that you know your skin. Analyze your skin type (dry, oily, mixed, rosacea, blotchy) and choose your routine accordingly. The better your base (your skin), the better the result.

Step 2: Use a primer

Do not place the foundation directly on your skin, but use a primer underneath. Primers soothe the skin, making the skin smoother, fade red spots and make it easier to apply the foundation evenly. You can use your fingertips to apply the primer, but if you want to do it the professional way, use a brush (eg MAC 190 Foundation Brush, a firm synthetic brush with a broad form).
Primers remain on the surface of the skin and are thus the perfect base for your foundation.

Step 3: Choose the right foundation (texture)

Foundations are available in many types: liquid, compact, creamy, mineral powder. It is very important that you choose the right formula for your skin. Your choice will be based on two criteria: your skin type and the effect you want to achieve. For example, if you have dry skin, it’s best to use liquid foundation. Ask yourself whether you want to have your skin look matte or shiny, then choose the foundation accordingly.

Step 4: Choose the right foundation (color)

Everyone’s facial skin shows slight color differences. No facial skin has the same complexion everywhere. Therefore, it is not always easy to find the right color. Genus recommends purchasing a foundation using the swatch test. This means that you try three different shades of foundation. These three shades are based on the complexion of different zones on your face. The lightest color should be similar to the skin along your jaw line (your skin here is usually the lightest). The medium color should be the general color of your face. And the third color should be similar to the color of the skin on your neck. Perform a test on these three colors by placing them on your skin, one by one. Then, choose the color that flatters you most. You can request assistance from the person manning the counter.

Step 5: Use a brush to apply the foundation

You foundation is best applied with a makeup brush. Start with your forehead. In this region, apply the foundation with long horizontal movements towards the hairline. On your cheeks, nose and chin, meanwhile, use vertical movements. Use a small brush for your nose and eyes.

Step 6: Secure your foundation with powder

Powder ensures better adhesion and makes your foundation last longer. You can choose between loose powder and compact powder. The result is the same, the difference lies only in the texture. In general, you use loose powder (which is easier to apply) but compact powder is perfect for work.
