If you have been fighting with your spouse over money or other issues, or even have decided to separate and get divorced, this can be a huge stressor that causes weight gain and prevents weight loss. Many people do not understand what a huge impact this can have on weight fluctuations. Chronic stress is a form of survival: in ancient times when faced with stressors, our bodies shut down and go into starvation mode, causing weight to accumulate around the midsection to help us survive. Although today we do not generally get chased by dinosaurs, so this flight or fight response is not needed; however our bodies still work like this.

Do not Ignore the Situation

One of the most effective ways to lose weight is not to ignore the situations that cause you to gain weight, because you will only be hurting yourself and gain even more weight.
